KSL Diagnostic Develops COVID-19 Testing Network for the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH)

New network streamlines operations for district’s public, private and charter schools ensuring accessible, quality, and fast COVID-19 testing

KSL Diagnostics, a Western New York-based company that has conducted more than a half million COVID-19 tests since the start of the pandemic, has formed a COVID-19 testing network at the request of the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH). Erie County schools now have access to an expanded network of more than 25 independent pharmacies and urgent care centers to deliver quality RT-PCR testing services with the area’s fastest, most reliable turnaround time for reporting test results for the district’s public, private and charter schools.

“Back to school resulted in a surge of COVID-19 related testing in Western New York. Schools were struggling with the burden of rapidly increasing testing needs as service providers were experiencing delays and reporting issues. We needed a better system, so we enlisted the aid of our valuable community partners to develop a ‘testing network’ to streamline operations. We are grateful that they were able to act so quickly to help solve this problem,” stated Kevin Lawson, President and CEO of KSL Diagnostics.

Working at the direction of the ECDOH, KSL built a foundation for efficient and consistent COVID-19 testing to address the region’s ongoing need. With a network of reliable testing sites in place, a list of participants located throughout the area is now available: https://www.ksldx.com/locations.

“The importance of having easy, accessible testing for area schools cannot be overstated. The delays and reporting issues were wreaking havoc on our communities and families. This network is helping to eliminate the chaos and provide a well-run system for students, administrators and faculty who need testing,” added Mr. Kevin Lawson.

Medically necessary COVID-19 RT-PCR testing is reimbursable by insurance companies under Federal law, or, if uninsured, covered in full by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, KSL leadership knew that a significant, global healthcare emergency was unfolding before their eyes. They felt obligated to act and understood very quickly the dire need to get testing for this novel virus started. With access to the necessary resources, KSL brought testing to Western New York and has since performed more than a half million COVID-19 laboratory tests. KSL’s COVID-19 testing sites are open to the public and do not require an appointment. To get tested, visit KSL Diagnostics at 28 Best Street, Buffalo (2.5 miles from the Peace Bridge) or 1000 Youngs Road, Williamsville.
